Dr. Ali Alhasan

CEO, NanoPalm Ltd.

Dr. Ali H. Alhasan is the founder and CEO of the NanoPalm Ltd. and an associate professor at King Abdualziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), the co-founder of the KACST-BWH/Harvard center of excellence for biomedicine, a principal investigator of the nanomedicine R&D group, and an adjunct professor at Alfaisal University. He is a nanoscientist with PhD in nanomedicine and research interests in nanomaterials, who is known for his discovery and development of three patented inventions; 1) scannometric miRNA-based biodetection and therapeutic, 2) immune suppressing nanoparticles for robust sensitization of drug-resistant breast cancer, and 3) patterning-mediated supramolecular assembly of lipids into nanoparticles. Dr. Alhasan received his B.S. degree from King Abdulaziz University (2001), an M.S. and a Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern University (2008 and 2015, respectively). He completed his PhD studies in the laboratory of Professor Chad Mirkin, who has founded 10 companies and has been recognized with over 250 national and international awards, including the 2023 King Faisal Prize. Dr. Alhasan joined the Center of Excellence in Nanomedicine (CENM) as the director of strategic initiatives, and as a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Professor Adah Almutairi at University of California-San Diego, CA, USA. Dr. Alhasan has been the recipient of recognitions including the International Institute for Nanotechnology Outstanding Researcher, and a Kemin outstanding researcher. His researches produced published papers in high impact journals like Science Advances, PNAS, ACS Nano, JACS, Small, iScience, RSC Biomaterials, Analytical Chemistry, RSC Advances in Nanotechnology, and Scientific Reports. He has given over 100 invited lectures and educated over 50 researchers, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, of whom over 15 are now members at top institutions within the Kingdome of Saudi Arabia, including NEOM, KAUST, KACST, and the Saudi FDA.
